1991 NCAA Division I baseball tournament
The 1991 NCAA Division I baseball tournament decided the national champion for the college season. It featured 48 teams. The finals, known as the College World Series, were held at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, and the eight-team double-elimination event marked its 45th year.
Eight regional tournaments determined the participants for the CWS. Each regional had six teams, and the regional brackets produced the eight teams that moved on to Omaha. The opening rounds were played at eight regional sites across the country: Tallahassee, Austin, Gainesville, Wichita, Orono, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles, and Fresno. The format was double-elimination, with some regional brackets varying in structure as teams were eliminated.
LSU won its first national title, led by coach Skip Bertman. Wichita State was the runner-up, making its fourth College World Series appearance. Gary Hymel of LSU was named the Most Outstanding Player.
