Castronuovo di Sant'Andrea is a small town and comune in the province of Potenza, in Basilicata, southern Italy. It lies near Armento. The town’s name comes from Saint Vitalis of Castronovo, who lived as a hermit in the area. He was from Castronovo in Sicily, which inspired the name Castronuovo, and the addition “di Sant’Andrea” was added centuries later. The town has about 860 residents and covers around 47.5 square kilometers, at an elevation of about 650 meters.
