Calvert & Co

Calvert & Co was an English porter brewery in the 1700s. It brewed at the City of London brewery. From 1784 to 1791, it was the second largest brewery in the world by production. The Hour Glass Brewery at 89 Thames Street had existed since at least 1431 and was bought by the Calvert family in 1730. In 1805 a fire destroyed its premises. In 1860 the City of London Brewing Company was formed to acquire Calverts.
