Cándido Amador Recinos
Cándido Amador Recinos (1958 – April 12, 1997) was a Honduran political activist and a leader of the Ch'orti' indigenous community. He served as General Secretary of the General Council for the Development of Indigenous Groups and spent many years fighting to recover lost lands and to secure legal ownership of Ch'orti' lands for his people.
Recinos was murdered by unknown assailants and found by the side of a road with a brain injury. Days before his death, he had told colleagues about death threats. Two men were arrested in connection with the case but were released without charges.
