Brayden Maynard
Brayden Maynard is an Australian rules football player who defends for Collingwood in the AFL. He wears number 4, is 189 cm tall and weighs 93 kg. Born on 20 September 1996 in Adelaide, he grew up in Melbourne. Maynard began his junior football with the Hampton Rovers and Sandringham Dragons, and represented Vic Metro at the 2014 AFL Under-18 Championships.
He was drafted by Collingwood with pick 30 in the 2014 national draft and made his AFL debut in round 14, 2015 against Hawthorn. By the end of the 2025 season, he had played 229 games and kicked 25 goals. Notable milestones include:
- 2020: played his 100th AFL game
- 2022: named in the All-Australian team (defender)
- 2023: part of Collingwood’s premiership team; appointed co-vice captain; began wearing number 4 after Brodie Grundy’s move
- 2018: played in the Grand Final (which Collingwood lost to West Coast)
Maynard has been known for his hard, attacking defense and his left-foot kicking. He also spent time as an assistant coach at De La Salle College in 2019. Personal background includes his father Peter Maynard, who played for Melbourne, and his grandfather Graham Campbell, a former coach and player. His brother Corey has also played AFL football. Maynard has spoken about dealing with obsessive–compulsive disorder.
