Bonne Bay
Bonne Bay is a large bay on the western coast of Newfoundland, Canada, inside Gros Morne National Park. It lies between the Great Northern Peninsula and the rest of the island and is divided into Inner Bonne Bay and Outer Bonne Bay. Inner Bonne Bay has two arms, with the southern arm featuring wooded coves and beach landings. Outer Bonne Bay marks the entrance to the fjord.
The bay was formed about 10,000 years ago by two large glaciers that came from the arms, met in the middle, and pushed toward the ocean.
Geology and soils differ by side: the western shore sits on mafic rock with soils from the Serpentine Cove Association, while the eastern shore has clastic sedimentary rock with soils from the Cox's Cove Association.
Recreation highlights include Gros Morne National Park, the Bonne Bay Marine Station, kayak tours, the Deer Lake Insectarium, fishing for trout, hiking, biking, boat tours, water taxis, and museums.
