Balléyara Department

Balléyara Department is a district in Niger’s Tillabéri Region. Its capital is Tagazar. The department covers about 540 square miles (1,399 square kilometers). In 2012, around 107,134 people lived there, giving a population density of about 198 per square mile (77 per square kilometer). The time zone is UTC+1.

History: Balléyara started as the Balleyara Administrative Post in 1971. In 2011, it was separated from Filingué Department to become its own department.

Administrative divisions: Balléyara has one municipality, Tagazar.
