Assheton Pownall (priest)

Assheton Pownall (31 October 1822 – 24 November 1886) was an English priest who served as Archdeacon of Leicester from 1884 until his death. He was born in Walton, Liverpool, and studied at Brasenose College, Oxford. Pownall was the Rector of South Kilworth for 39 years, from 1847 to 1886, succeeding William Pearson. He died in Dover in 1886. His grandsons included Sir Assheton Pownall, a military officer and politician, and Lt. Gen. Sir Henry Royds Pownall. His first cousin was The Reverend Thomas Boultbee.
