Artem Dmytruk
Artem Hennadiyovych Dmytruk (born 28 June 1993 in Koziatyn, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian weightlifter, activist and politician who has served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine since 2019, representing the 133rd electoral district. He was elected as an independent candidate with support from Servant of the People, then joined the party, later leaving in 2021 to join Smart Politics and in 2022 to Restoration of Ukraine.
Before politics, Dmytruk achieved success in weightlifting, winning the 2014 World Powerlifting Championship and earning a silver medal at the 2018 Crosslifting World Cup. He also competed in sambo, mixed martial arts and boxing. He studied jurisprudence at the National University Odesa Law Academy and ran several businesses, including Barbell Gym and other fitness clubs. He co-founded the NGO “I’m an Odesan, and I care” and was involved with the NGO “Ilya Muromets.”
In Parliament, he served on the Law Enforcement Committee and joined groups focused on South Ukraine and European business integration. He supported the appointment of Oleksiy Honcharuk as Prime Minister. In 2021 he was expelled from Servant of the People after forming Smart Politics; three months later he was expelled from Smart Politics following a clash at the Odesa City Council in which guards were injured. In May 2022 he joined Restoration of Ukraine.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was skeptical of vaccines and refused vaccination. He has been involved in several controversial incidents, including a 2020 physical altercation with deputy Serhiy Vlasenko. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, he helped organize a territorial defense unit in Odesa and condemned the invasion.
