Art Metal is the studio album by bass guitarist Jonas Hellborg, released in 2007 on Bardo Records. It is the debut recording by Hellborg’s Art Metal project, blending contemporary metal with Indian music and jazz improvisation. The lineup features South Indian percussion master V. Selvaganesh, Swedish metal players Jens Johansson and Anders Johansson, and guitarist Mattias IA Eklundh. The music developed over about 18 months to merge these diverse traditions into new sounds. All tracks were written by Jonas Hellborg. The album was recorded at The Bunker, The Red House, and Aspoe Island, and runs 49 minutes and 40 seconds. Genre influences include art rock, heavy metal, world music, jazz, rock and jazz fusion. It was produced by Jonas Hellborg. In Hellborg’s releases, Art Metal is followed by Jazz Raj in 2014.
