Annanur is a western neighbourhood of Chennai, India, located near Ambattur. It is in Tiruvallur District and administered by the Avadi Municipal Corporation, about 20 km from Chennai’s city centre.

The area around Thirumullaivoyal includes Red Hills Lake, Oragadam, Ambattur, Avadi, Athipet and Ayanambakkam. It has several lakes, such as Thirumullaivoyal Lake, Arapath Lake and Ambattur Lake. Green belts owned by the Airports Authority of India, Southern Railways, temples and the Tamil Nadu Police help keep parts of the area green. Annanur has a railway station on the Chennai suburban railway network, and is part of Avadi Taluk in Tiruvallur District.

Annanur is bordered by Redhills Lake to the north; Parithipattu (Avadi), Ayappakkam and Athipet to the south; Ambattur Zone to the east; and Parithipattu (Avadi) to the west. Thirumullaivoyal has two nearby halts—Thirumullaivoyal and Annanur—within about a kilometre of each other. Chennai’s NH 205 runs through the area, providing main road connectivity to Annanur Station, with the 60 Feet Railway Road linking NH 205 to the station and the Avadi Car Shed Complex. NH 205 widening is being carried out, and a road-over-bridge project near the railway crossing between Ambattur and Avadi is proposed to connect to the Chennai Bypass, Outer Ring Road and NH 4.

Public transport also includes bus service S97 between Avadi and Ambattur O.T. St. Peter’s Engineering College near Annanur. St. Peter’s Engineering College is a local landmark, and there are two corporation schools in the area. Camp Tonakela Association is located at the south end of Thirumullaivoyal, north of Ayappakkam.

Recent developments include the 60-foot Railway Road from the railway station to Murugappa Polytechnic and then to NH-205; a 40-foot Railway Road is planned. Annanur is mainly divided into Sivasakthi Nagar (A-F sectors) and Sri Sakthi Nagar (named after old Tamil literature streets). Jothi Nagar lies on one side, while the other side features streets named after flowers and rivers. The area also includes a railway quarters and attracts students due to good rail and road access.
