Albert Schlicklin
Albert Schlicklin, known in Vietnamese as Cố Chính Linh, was an Alsatian Catholic priest who worked in Vietnam. He was born on November 12, 1857, in Liebsdorf and died on March 2, 1932, in Hanoi. In 1885 he was sent to Vietnam by the Paris Foreign Missions Society (Missions Étrangères de Paris). He translated the Bible from Latin into Vietnamese, creating the Cố Chính Linh version. Published in 1916, this Vietnamese Bible translation remained the most popular Catholic edition until about 1970.
