Abbey-Leigh Stringer
Abbey-Leigh Stringer (born 17 May 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Burnley FC Women. She was born in Nuneaton, England, and stands about 1.83 meters tall.
Club career
Stringer began her football with Aston Villa’s youth system. In 2014 she moved to Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Super League (WSL). She spent part of 2015 on loan to Aston Villa to gain more experience and signed a professional deal with Birmingham in 2016. During her time with Birmingham she made 37 league appearances and helped the team reach cup finals in the 2016 season. In August 2018 she joined Everton, where she played 40 games and scored once. In 2021 she signed for West Ham United, making 37 appearances and scoring one goal. In 2024 she joined DC Power FC in the USL Super League, making a couple of appearances. On 1 August 2025, Stringer signed with Burnley FC Women.
International career
Stringer has represented England at youth levels from under-17 to under-23. She played for England U17, U19, U20 and U23 teams, contributing to England’s runner-up finish at the 2013 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship.
