Aars Municipality
Aars Municipality was a local government area in northern Denmark, on the Jutland peninsula in North Jutland County. It was created in 1970 by combining several parishes: Blære, Gislum, Giver, Gundersted, Havbro, Skivum, Ulstrup, Vognsild, and Aars.
In 2005, the municipality covered 223 square kilometers and had 13,284 residents, with a population density of about 59.6 people per square kilometer. The last mayor was Knud V. Christensen of the Conservative People's Party.
On January 1, 2007, Aars Municipality was merged with Farsø, Løgstør, and Aalestrup to form Vesthimmerland Municipality. The new municipality covers 815 square kilometers and had about 39,176 residents in 2005. Today, the area is part of Vesthimmerland Municipality.
