AE Solar is a German solar panel maker founded in 2003 in Königsbrunn, Bavaria, by brothers Alexander Maier (CEO), Victor and Waldemar Maier. The company is based in Königsbrunn and sells its modules in more than 95 countries. It operates three production sites in Turkey, Georgia and China, with an annual capacity of about 2.5 GW for its European and Asian factories. AE Solar began as an installer and started PV module manufacturing in China in 2009, later expanding to a fully automated line by 2017. The company produces both polycrystalline and monocrystalline modules and has introduced a Smart Shading Resistant Hot-spot Free module that uses bypass diodes between cells to prevent shading problems. It is a member of the UN Global Compact.
