A Tale of Two Cities is a 1935 stage play written by Terence Rattigan and John Gielgud, based on Charles Dickens’s novel of the same name. The plan was to premiere in 1935, but Gielgud canceled the production to avoid clashing with another actor’s adaptation of the book. The play was performed once at a school and later adapted for radio in 1950. Its first professional stage premiere happened in 2013, running from September 25 to October 19 at the King’s Head Theatre in London.
