246th Mixed Brigade
246th Mixed Brigade (246.ª Brigada Mixta) was a planned unit of the Spanish Republican Army during the Spanish Civil War. Proposed in January 1939, late in the conflict during the Catalonia Offensive and the Republican retreat toward the French border, it was not assigned to any division and would be the last mixed brigade formed. It was to have four battalions (981, 982, 983 and 984) and was being organized in Calella, a coastal town north of Barcelona. The names of its officers are unknown. Given the rapid Francoist advance, forming this brigade was nearly impossible, and it probably never became operational and may have existed only on paper. It was part of the Eastern Region Army Group (GERO).
