On 4 May 2006, elections were held in all 13 wards to elect Broxbourne Borough Council members. The Conservatives gained the Bury Green Ward from the independent Bury Green Residents. Martin Greensmyth, who had won Bury Green for the Residents in 2002, stood for the Conservatives in 2006 and won the seat as a Conservative. The election left the council with a stronger Conservative presence. The next local government election was on 1 May 2007, with all 13 wards again contested.
