2003–04 Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball team
The 2003–04 Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball team represented Saint Joseph's University in the 2003–04 NCAA Division I season. Coached by Phil Martelli in his ninth year, the Hawks finished 30–2 overall and went 16–0 in the Atlantic 10, winning the regular-season title. They started the season with a 27–0 run, making them one of only 25 teams to go undefeated through the regular season in Division I, a feat not matched until Wichita State did it in 2014. The Hawks also won the Philadelphia Big 5 with a 4–0 record.
In the Atlantic 10 tournament, as the No. 1 seed with a first-round bye, they were upset by Xavier 87–67. They earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Liberty, Texas Tech, and Wake Forest to reach the Elite Eight. There, they lost to Oklahoma State by two points after a late three by John Lucas III; Jameer Nelson's attempt to tie with a 15‑foot shot fell short.
The team finished ranked No. 5 in both the Coaches and AP polls. Assistant coaches were Mark Bass, Matt Brady, and Monté Ross, and they played home games at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
