2001 Football League play-offs
The 2000–01 Football League play-offs took place in May 2001 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The play-offs are a chance for teams finishing just outside automatic promotion to win promotion. Semi-finals are played over two legs, with the 3rd–6th place teams in the First and Second Divisions and the 4th–7th place teams in the Third Division taking part. The winners of the semi-finals reach the finals, and the final winner is promoted to the next division. The play-offs have been held every year since 1987.
