1959 Idaho Vandals football

The 1959 Idaho Vandals represented the University of Idaho in the college football season. Led by sixth-year head coach Skip Stahley, the Vandals played as an independent in the NCAA University Division and finished with a 1–9 record.

Home games were split between Neale Stadium in Moscow and the old Bronco Stadium in Boise. After the Pacific Coast Conference dissolved in the spring, Idaho remained independent in football for six more seasons.

This year they played ten games for the first time. The first six games were on the road, and two games were night games (at Arizona and Pacific).

In the Battle of the Palouse, Idaho lost to Washington State for the fifth straight year, though they led at halftime before falling 27–5 at Rogers Field in Pullman. In the rivalry game with Montana at Neale Stadium, the Vandals won narrowly, keeping the Little Brown Stein.

After the season, Stahley became the athletic director in July 1960 in addition to his coaching duties. No Vandals made the All-Coast first or second teams. Honorable mentions were end Jim Norton and tackle Jim Prestel, both of whom had lengthy pro careers.

Two seniors from the 1959 Vandals were drafted in the 1960 NFL Draft, and one fifth-year senior had been drafted in 1959.
