WALD (1080 AM) is an urban gospel and Christian talk radio station licensed to Johnsonville, South Carolina. It is part of the Worship and Word Network and owned by Glory Communications, Inc. The station serves listeners in the area between Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Florence. WALD operates as a daytimer: it broadcasts at 9,000 watts during the day with a non-directional antenna, but must sign off at sunset to avoid interfering with the clear-channel frequencies of KRLD in Dallas and WTIC in Hartford. In the hours around sunset (critical hours), it transmits at 2,700 watts. Programming is also heard on FM translator W254DG at 98.7 FM in Scranton, South Carolina.
