V (Down with Webster album)
V is the fourth studio album by Canadian rap-rock band Down with Webster. It was released independently on February 19, 2021. The album was recorded in 2015 and runs 38 minutes and 52 seconds. It was released on the DWW Entertainment label and produced by Down with Webster, James Robertson, Davey Badiuk, and Zale Epstein.
Two singles preceded the album: “Love Is Not Enough” (June 25, 2020) and “Take Us Alive” (July 24, 2020).
Background: After going on hiatus in 2017, most members formed a new group called Honors, while Martin Seja and Dave Ferris were not part of that project. In 2020, Pat Gillett hinted at a possible DWW reunion. The band returned in June 2020 with “Love Is Not Enough,” released without Ferris, who had left during the hiatus. The follow-up single, “Take Us Alive,” arrived in July 2020. The album had been recorded in 2015 but was not released at the time; it finally came out in 2021, with bassist Tyler Armes stating it would be Down with Webster’s final album.
Reception: Luke Wells of Soundigest praised the songs for capturing the band’s nostalgic sound and noted an 80s-inspired vibe in “Take Us Alive.”
