Tony Jones (linebacker)
Tony Jones (born August 5, 1995) is an American football linebacker for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He wears number 33, is 6'2" tall, and weighs 235 pounds. He is listed as active on the roster. Jones grew up in Casselberry, Florida, and played high school football at Lyman High School as a running back. He played college football at Butler Community College (2015-2016) and Texas Tech (2017-2018).
Jones began his pro career in the Indoor Football League with the Iowa Barnstormers in 2021, earning first-team All-IFL honors, plus All-Rookie and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards.
He signed with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts in December 2021, spent time on their practice squad in 2022, and was released in July 2022. He then joined the Edmonton Elks’ practice squad in September 2022 and was promoted to the active roster in October. He played four games for Edmonton in 2022 (two defensive tackles, two special-teams tackles) and 18 games in 2023 (41 defensive tackles, 11 special-teams tackles, one sack, one forced fumble).
Jones re-signed with Edmonton in February 2024 but was released after the training camp. He signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on June 9, 2024. In 2024, he played 12 regular-season games, starting 11, with 49 defensive tackles, 11 special-teams tackles, one sack, one interception, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He played in the 111th Grey Cup, recording four defensive tackles in the Bombers’ loss to the Argonauts. He earned CFL West All-Star honors in 2025.
