TAG convoys

The TAG convoys were groups of Caribbean sea convoys used in World War II. They carried ships from Trinidad to Aruba and then to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. They ran in the opposite direction to the GAT convoys, from August 1942 to May 1945.

In total, 205 TAG convoys took part, with 3,843 individual ship listings. Five TAG convoys were attacked by German U-boats in 1942 and 1943, resulting in 12 ships sunk and one damaged, later declared a total loss.

Two exceptions were noted:
- TAG.SP, a special convoy that sailed in two parts—from Trinidad to Kingston, Jamaica, and then on to Guantanamo in January 1943—with no losses.
- Convoy TAG 205, which sailed from Curaçao to Guantanamo and consisted of only one ship.
