Sinseong-ri Reed Field is a large reed bed where the Geum River meets the sea, at the border of Seocheon and Gunsan in South Korea. It is about 1.5 km long and 0.2 km wide (around 33 hectares or 100,000 pyeong). It’s one of the four biggest reed beds in the country and has been recognized as a notable reed habitat. The area used to be called Gomgae Naru.

Only about 3% of the field is open to the public with walking trails. In winter, from December to January, about 40 bird species visit, totaling around 100,000 birds. The site has appeared in films such as JSA (2000) and Chu-no (2010). Along the trail, a log board features poems by poets Park Doo-jin, Kim So-wol, Park Mok-wol and Ahn Do-hyun. The Reed Field includes the Reed Experience Hall, which sells local treats like sokokju and mosi cake. Nearby attractions include the Geumgang River estuary resort and the Hansan Mosi Exhibition Hall. It is one of Seocheon’s Eight Scenic Spots. Every October, the Seocheon Moonlight Culture Reed Festival is held near the field, with programs across the reeds and local shops.
