Pete Mikolajewski
Pete Mikolajewski is a former American football quarterback who played one season in the AFL with the San Diego Chargers. Born in 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia, he went to Piqua Catholic School in Ohio and played college football at Kent State University. In 1966 he starred for the Dayton Colts in the Midwest Football League, earning MVP honors after setting league records with 123 completions, 1,842 yards and 23 touchdowns. That year he also signed with the NFL’s Detroit Lions after an injury to Milt Plum. In 1967 he led the Midwest Football League in passing and then played for the Colts again in 1968, finishing the season with 1,707 yards and 19 touchdowns on 98 completions of 183 attempts by October. The San Diego Chargers signed him in 1969; he appeared in one AFL game but did not throw a pass, was sacked once, and fumbled. He was released by the Chargers in 1970.
