Matt Reynolds (infielder)
Matt Reynolds is a former American professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Kansas City Royals, and Cincinnati Reds, and later played in Japan for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp.
Born December 3, 1990, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Reynolds attended Bishop Kelley High School and played college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks as a third baseman. He was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2012 MLB draft. The Mets moved him to shortstop and he made his MLB debut on May 17, 2016, with his first big league hit coming a week later.
Reynolds spent time with several teams over his career: the Mets (2016–2017, 2022), the Washington Nationals (2018), the Kansas City Royals (2020), and the Cincinnati Reds (2022–2023). In 2024, he played briefly in Nippon Professional Baseball for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, but after a season-ending shoulder surgery, he was released in June and announced his retirement in October 2024.
