Matt Berry is an English actor, comedian, musician and writer. Born on 2 May 1974 in Bromham, Bedfordshire, he is known for his distinctive voice and many TV roles.

He stars in The IT Crowd, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh, Snuff Box, Toast of London (which he co-created and scored), and What We Do in the Shadows, where he plays Laszlo. He won a BAFTA in 2015 for Best Male Comedy Performance for Toast of London. He has been nominated for an Emmy and Critics' Choice Awards for What We Do in the Shadows.

Berry has released 11 studio albums of psychedelic rock and folk music. He studied at Nottingham Trent University, earning a BA in contemporary arts in 1999. Early in his career he appeared on a TV game show on .tv and in a Lloyds TSB ad with Lionel Richie.

His breakthrough TV roles included Todd Rivers/Lucien Sanchez in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and Dixon Bainbridge in The Mighty Boosh. He formed Snuff Box with Rich Fulcher on BBC Three, and later joined The IT Crowd. He has acted in films such as The Devil's Chair and Moon, and done voice work in animation and video games.

Since 2019 he has starred as Laszlo in What We Do in the Shadows, with the show renewed for seasons 2 and 3. He also starred in Year of the Rabbit (2019–2021). Berry continues to release music; albums include Witchazel (2009), The Small Hours (2016), Television Themes (2018), Phantom Birds (2020), The Blue Elephant (2021), Simplicity (2023) and Heard Noises (2025).

People describe Berry as shy and private; he rarely talks about his personal life. He moved from London in 2017 to a place with more space.
