Maea David
Maea David (born 27 February 1972) is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former professional rugby league player who played in England and Australia. He began with the Papanui Tigers in the Canterbury Rugby League and first played for Canterbury in 1992, the same year he was chosen for the Kiwi Colts. He also took part in the 1993 New Zealand rugby league trials but did not make the final squad. He played for the Canterbury Country Cardinals in the inaugural Lion Red Cup.
In 1994 he moved to England to sign with Hull FC. He spent 1996 and 1997 with the Illawarra Steelers in Australia, playing 11 first-grade games. He returned to Hull FC for the 1998 Super League season. He also had stints with Featherstone Rovers and Doncaster Dragons later in his league career.
After his league days, he joined Hull RUFC, where he played and later served as backs coach under former teammate Tevita Vaikona.
