Leena Tewari
Leena Gandhi Tewari (born 9 March 1957) is an Indian businesswoman and author. She chairs USV Private Limited, a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology company founded in 1961 by her grandfather Vithal Balkrishna Gandhi. USV specializes in diabetic and cardiovascular drugs, biosimilars, injectables, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Leena studied commerce at the University of Mumbai and earned an MBA from Boston University. She is married to Prashant, who is the managing director of USV. She also supports humanitarian work through the Dr Sushila Gandhi Centre for Underprivileged Women, helping girls with academics, dance and computer training.
In 2013, she published a biography about her grandfather titled Beyond Pipes and Dreams. With a net worth of about US$2.6 billion, she is one of India's wealthiest people and has appeared on Forbes lists. On philanthropy, she ranked 23rd on the Hurun India Philanthropy List 2019 for donations of ₹34 crore (about US$4 million) and was the third-ranked woman philanthropist on the same list.
