Kanabadutaledu
Kanabadutaledu is a 2021 Telugu crime thriller directed by Balaraju M. It stars Sunil as Detective Rama Krishna, with Vaishali Raj and Sukranth Veerella in key roles, along with Himaja, Praveen, Ravi Varma, and Kireeti Damaraju in supporting parts. The film was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and released on 19 August 2021. It runs about 115 minutes and features music by Madhu Ponnas.
Plot
In Visakhapatnam, a brutal murder is discovered with the victim’s identity erased except for a leg plate, leading to a crucial witness who tests to gain a pardon. In Hyderabad, Sashida asks her ex-lover Aditya to kill Surya, her former partner, but Surya goes missing. Detective Rama Krishna takes on the case, tracing a web of motives involving Michael, Nikhil, and Aditya, while a corrupt inspector, Victor Raju, becomes a casualty in the larger conspiracy. Rama Krishna eventually learns Surya is alive and uncovers the hidden truth: Surya’s disappearance stems from a larger trap, and the killer turns out to be Nikhil’s wife, who had manipulated events and had Michael attack Surya. She also murders Inspector Raju and is arrested. In the end, Surya is found, and Sashida and Surya reunite; Aditya pays Rama Krishna to acknowledge his support for Sashida.
Production and music
The film is produced by SS Films and Shade Studios, with Sree Padha Creations involved in production. Cinematography is by Sandeep Baddula, editing by Raviteja Kurmana, and the soundtrack is composed by Madhu Ponnas. It was distributed by Silly Monks Entertainment.
Reception
Critics gave mixed reviews. The Times of India rated it 2/5, calling it a crime thriller with little thrill. Eenadu praised the performances of Sunil and Vaishali Raj but criticized the storyline and screenplay. Asianet News Network felt Sunil was underutilized, though some directions showed promise. 123telugu noted a good plot ruined by weak execution and dubbing, though Sunil’s second-half performance helped.
