Jo Min-ki
Jo Min-ki (November 5, 1965 – March 9, 2018) was a South Korean actor, photographer, and professor. He is best known for TV dramas such as Love and Ambition, East of Eden, Queen Seondeok, and Flames of Desire. He also published two books of photography and held solo exhibitions. Since 2010 he taught at Cheongju University.
He studied at Cheongju University (B.A. in Theater and Film) and earned a master’s degree in Performing Arts from Chung-Ang University. He was married to Kim Sun-jin since 1991 and had two children. He was represented by Will Entertainment and was active from 1990 to 2018.
In February 2018, several students accused him of sexual misconduct. He initially denied the charges, resigned from Cheongju University, and withdrew from a planned production, Children of a Lesser God. About a week later he apologized and admitted the allegations. He was under police investigation and barred from leaving the country during the inquiry.
On March 9, 2018, Jo Min-ki was found dead in an apparent suicide. He left a six-page note for his family and students; its contents were not released publicly. A private funeral was held in Seoul.
