Higher apprenticeship
Higher Apprenticeships are the vocational equivalent of a Foundation degree. They lead to Level 4-5 qualifications and are usually for people who already have a Level 3 qualification (such as an advanced apprenticeship, A levels, or the International Baccalaureate). Some training providers now accept relevant work experience in place of a Level 3, and you may have an interview to join. They account for about 31.9% of all apprenticeship starts, with around 80,700 new starts in 2020/21. They are the only apprenticeship category that has grown in the last three years, rising from 59,800 starts in 2018/19 and 66,700 in 2019/20. Higher Apprenticeships are open to people aged 18 and over and now cover more than 40 job areas.
