Frederick Hendrik (Henry) Habibe, born on 6 May 1940 in Aruba, is an Aruban poet and literary critic. He published much of his poetry after starting the magazine Watapana (1968–1972). He mainly writes in Papiamento, with some poems in Spanish and Dutch. In 1985 he earned a PhD from Leiden University for a study about Afro-Caribbean poetry in Cuba and Puerto Rico, focusing on Nicolás Guillén and other poets. He also wrote studies on Pierre Lauffer, JS Corsen and Luis Daal. Habibe contributed reviews to Antillean newspapers Amigoe di Curacao and Beurs- en Nieuwsberichten (1986–1997). He serves on the advisory board of the Werkgroep Caraïbische Letteren (Caribbean Letters Working Group) of the Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde (Society of Dutch Literature) in Leiden.
