Gyokairui Yamaoka Maiko
Gyokairui Yamaoka Maiko (魚介類 山岡マイコ) is a 2011 Japanese fantasy film directed by Ryūtarō Kajino. The story follows Kamoka, who finds a girl emerging from the sea named Maiko. Although Maiko wears a high school uniform and looks human, she is a kind of fish. Kamoka brings Maiko home and the two become friends. They are invited to Mochiro’s house for dinner, where Kamoka first thinks Mochiro likes Maiko romantically, but Mochiro is actually planning to cook Maiko for a dish. Maiko also begins to undergo a strange transformation. The film stars Uki Satake, Cocoro Takami, and Miho Matsushita, with music by Yoshiyuki Ohi and cinematography by Masaki Nishioka. It had its international debut at the 2011 Yubari International Film Festival and was released in Japan on October 22, 2011. Runtime is 82 minutes.
