Flaxy Martin is a 1949 American film noir directed by Richard L. Bare, starring Virginia Mayo as Flaxy Martin, with Zachary Scott as mob lawyer Walter Colby and Dorothy Malone as Nora Carson.

Plot
Walter Colby works for a crime syndicate but wants to quit and go straight. His girlfriend, Flaxy Martin, is involved with crime boss Hap Richie and is using him for money. Hap arranges for a perjurer, Peggy Farrar, to testify for Caesar, a hood who would be cleared of a murder. Peggy tries to blackmail Hap for $10,000, but Flaxy exposes her. Caesar kills Peggy, and Flaxy is accused of the murder. To protect Flaxy, Colby confesses to be the killer, hoping for an easy acquittal, but he is convicted and goes to prison.

Sam Malko, a former client, visits and hints that Caesar has been bragging about Colby’s conviction. Colby suspects Flaxy. On the way to prison, he escapes during a transfer and is cared for by Nora Carson, who is drawn to him and helps him survive as a statewide manhunt begins.

Colby returns to Sam’s for help and learns Caesar is dead. He has a rooftop showdown with Caesar’s ally, Roper, and defeats him. He goes to Flaxy’s apartment to confront her, where Hap arrives. Flaxy shoots Hap, killing him, and is arrested. Colby plans to run away with Nora, but Nora declines. He decides to turn himself in, and as he heads toward the police station, Nora arrives at the depot, leaving the ending open.

The film runs 86 minutes and was released in the United States on February 15, 1949.
