First Ever
First Ever Pty Ltd is an Australian manufacturing company based in Melbourne. It was founded in 2018 by Justin Kestelman and is part of the LK Group.
The company made sportswear and clothing for the National Basketball League (NBL) during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons and is the current manufacturer for Softball Australia. It is also known for “ath-street” clothing inspired by Melbourne’s culture.
When the NBL launched its own apparel brand in 2018, First Ever began producing basketball gear and supplying uniforms to grassroots clubs and elite NBL teams across Australia. Owner Justin Kestelman, who co-owns the NBL and Melbourne United with his father Larry, said the aim was to donate a portion of every jersey to programs that support Australian basketball’s future. He saw a gap for an Australian ath-street brand that connects with the broader community and hoped to inspire, style, create, and collaborate with iconic fashion and sporting brands, including the NBL.
In August 2019, First Ever unveiled FE Custom, a service that lets customers fully customize and order their own basketball gear branded with the First Ever logo, shipped within 10 days.
On March 12, 2020, First Ever was replaced as the official apparel partner of the NBL, with Champion taking over for the 2020/21 season.
