Fiendens musik

Fiendens musik (The music of the enemy) was a Swedish rock band from Lund, formed in 1977 by Mats Zetterberg and Mats Bäcker. They began as a cover band but soon wrote their own material, inspired by punk, pub rock and New Wave. Their first single, En spark rätt i skallen, released on the Bellatrix label in Malmö, helped them break through. Fiendens musik blended Swedish progg with punk, and their live shows were high-energy, fast, with loud guitars, saxophone and chaotic stage antics where the musicians would push and fall into each other. They played with bands like Ebba Grön, Dag Vag and other punk acts.

In a short time they released four singles and two albums, all produced by Dan Tillberg for Bellatrix.

The main members were Mats Zetterberg (vocals), Harry Schiffman (guitar), Mats Bäcker (saxophone), Peter Kempinsky (guitar), Ulf Karlberg (bass), Ingvar "Krupa" Nilsson (drums), and Karl G. Jönsson (lyrics and design). Songs were usually written by Jönsson/Schiffman or Zetterberg/Schiffman. The band’s name was meant to criticize a Maoist publication titled Folket har aldrig segrat till fiendens musik, issued by Oktoberförlaget the same year the band formed.
