Ephraim Ruebush
Ephraim Ruebush (September 26, 1833 – November 18, 1924) was an American music teacher and publisher who helped start the Ruebush-Kieffer Company, a leading publisher of gospel songbooks in the United States. He was born in Churchville, Virginia, to John Ruebush and Mary Huffman. In September 1853 he went to Singers Glen, Virginia, to study music and printing with Joseph Funk. He married Lucille Virginia Kieffer on March 28, 1861. Together with his brother-in-law Aldine Silliman Kieffer, he started the Kieffer-Ruebush music company in Dayton, Virginia. The company published many gospel songbooks and remained active into the 1940s. Ruebush died on November 18, 1924 and is buried in Dayton. Jacob Henry Hall, a writer on gospel music, was associated with the company.
