Edmonds Underwater Park
Edmonds Underwater Park (EUP) is a popular beginner scuba site in Edmonds, Washington, just north of the Edmonds-Kingston ferry terminal. The water depth tops out around 45 feet (14 m). A grid of anchored ropes guides divers to various submerged features and several shipwrecks, including a large tugboat named Triumph. Volunteers maintain the park and meet most Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m.
Expect to see big lingcod, cabezon, octopus, surf perch, rockfish, and many invertebrates. Gray whales have even been spotted by divers here.
Getting in is a moderate surface swim. There are restrooms with changing areas and an outdoor shower that works when air temperatures are above freezing.
North of the ferry terminal is a 300-foot exclusion zone. The site has good parking, and there are many nearby restaurants and a coffee shop. A dive shop is located south of the park on Railroad Avenue.
In 2009 a new feature was sunk: the Lopez Pontoon, a large concrete piece that used to be a bridge fender. It measures 100 by 20 by 13 inches and sits west of the Triumph, with five chambers that divers can enter. It provides a habitat for fish, invertebrates, algae, and seaweed.
