Basketettan
Basketettan is Sweden’s third-tier professional basketball league. It sits below Superettan (the second level) in the Swedish basketball system. The league has 21 teams that compete in two regional groups, North and South. Each season, the top teams earn promotion to Superettan.
History: From 2013 to 2017, Basketettan was played in a fall season with the best teams moving up to Superettan in the spring. Since the 2017–18 season, Basketettan has been the third level, with a ten-team Superettan above it as the second tier.
Current champions: The champions for the 2018–19 season were Norrort.
Teams (examples):
- North group: AIK (Stockholm), Alvik Basket (Stockholm), Åkersberga Basket (Åkersberga), Umeå BSKT (Umeå), Luleå Steelers (Luleå).
