Araira is a town in Miranda state, Venezuela, in Zamora Municipality. It covers about 5 square kilometers and sits at 346 meters above sea level. About 25,000 people lived there in 2001. The town is west of Guatire, and it is about 52 kilometers (32 miles) from Caracas. Araira was founded in 1864, but people had settled there by the mid-17th century. The climate is Aw (tropical savanna). The postal code is 1221 and the area code is 0212. Time zone is VST. People from Araira are called araireño/a.
