2006–07 Minnesota Timberwolves season

The Timberwolves’ 18th NBA season started with head coach Dwane Casey, who was fired on January 23, 2007, and replaced by Randy Wittman. Kevin McHale was the general manager, Glen Taylor the owner, and the team played at the Target Center.

They finished 32–50 (.390), placing 4th in the Northwest Division and 13th in the Western Conference, and did not qualify for the playoffs. The team hoped to improve on the previous season’s 33–49 record but fell one win short.

This was Kevin Garnett’s final season in his first stint with the Timberwolves; he was traded to the Boston Celtics after the 2006–07 season and won a championship with Boston in 2008. Garnett later returned to Minnesota in the 2014–15 season for a second stint.

After the season, tragedy struck when Eddie Griffin died in a car accident on August 17, 2007.
