The Lazio regional election of 1990 was held on 6 and 7 May. The Christian Democracy party was by far the largest, well ahead of the Italian Communist Party, which came in second. After the vote, Rodolfo Gigli of the Christian Democrats formed a regional government that included the Italian Socialist Party and several minor parties in a Pentapartito coalition.

Following the Tangentopoli scandals, Gigli was succeeded from 1992 by a series of governments: Giorgio Pasetto (Christian Democrat, 1992–1994), Carlo Proietti (Democratic Party of the Left, 1994–1995), and Arturo Osio (Green, 1995).
