The 5th constituency of Val‑de‑Marne is a district east of Paris for France’s National Assembly. It covers five cantons: Bry-sur-Marne, Champigny-sur-Marne-Centre, Champigny-sur-Marne-Est, Nogent-sur-Marne and Le Perreux-sur-Marne. Nogent-sur-Marne was added to the constituency in the 2010 redistricting.

Politically, Champigny-sur-Marne tends to vote Communist, while the smaller towns—Bry-sur-Marne, Le Perreux-sur-Marne and Nogent-sur-Marne—lean more conservative.

In 2017, the results followed the national pattern: traditional center-right (LR) and center-left (PS) parties weakened, and Emmanuel Macron’s new party En Marche! led in the first round. The incumbent LR deputy, Gilles Carrez, made it to the second round but did not win outright in the first round. The Left’s rise continued with France Insoumise (LFI) finishing strong in several areas, ahead of the Socialist Party (PS).

Results by town in the first round showed variation:
- Champigny-sur-Marne: En Marche’s Nadine Ret led with about 30.6%, the Communist candidate was second (about 19.6%), Carrez was fourth (about 13.9%), and LFI had around 14.8%.
- Le Perreux-sur-Marne: Carrez led the field (about 38.5%), Ret was second (about 34.2%), LFI third (about 8.7%).
- Bry-sur-Marne: Ret led (about 41.8%), Carrez second (about 30.6%), LFI around 8.2%.
- Nogent-sur-Marne: Ret led (about 44.7%), Carrez second (about 28.4%), LFI around 8.0%.
- The Perreux-sur-Marne had similar patterns with Carrez and Ret in the top two.

In the second round, Gilles Carrez won reelection with about 50.5% of the vote. Voter turnout was very high in terms of abstentions, at around 58.6%, with about 8.3% of ballots blank or spoiled. Across the constituency, the first-round success of En Marche! and the stronger showing of LFI reflected a notable shift in political support, with the inclusion of Nogent contributing to a weaker radical-left performance overall.
