Melica bonariensis
Melica bonariensis is a grass native only to Argentina, found in the grassy steppes of southern La Pampa, east of Río Negro, and southwest of Buenos Aires (including areas near Bahía Blanca). It is a perennial plant with short underground stems. The upright culms reach about 40–70 cm tall, with narrow leaves. Its flowering head is a long, slim panicle about 20–30 cm long. It flowers from late August to mid-September, producing small, dark brown fruits.
